What is Money? An Introduction for Children

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

We’ve said it before, but it’s never too late to discuss money with children. With school starting right around the corner, we thought it was perfect timing to create a four-part “Back to School Youth Education” blog series to teach children about money and finances. If you’re a parent with young children, consider sharing this series with them to help set a good foundation when it comes to saving, spending, and money in general.

Today’s post introduces children to the concept of money. In the brief video below, Billy the Dollar Bill, presents an introductory description of money from its inception to how it’s used around the world. It’s a great learning tool for young children to see what money is and the purpose it serves.

Check back over the next two weeks as we share additional educational videos for your children that discuss the following topics:

-Money Doesn’t Grow on Trees
-Making Smart Choices about Money

-Coupons and Price Comparison

When you’re ready, PrimeWay has several account options for youth to help you help them develop smart money habits early on in their life.
